Re: Major Update 9.0.190275 Released
I am sorry, I did not clarify correctly. This was the result of both programs running through HDDSuperClone, trying to target specific data. If the programs were ran against the full image/clone (not through HDDSuperClone), the results would have likely been even with both programs producing very si...

Re: Major Update 9.0.190275 Released
The test was done with the exact same image file and log file. The image and log were from a real failed drive recovery, and there was no interaction from the actual failing drive for the test. I don't remember some exact specifics, but the test was fully repeatable, and not biased. I looked for set...

Re: Major Update 9.0.190275 Released
Very interesting. A while back they bought a 60 day license of HDDSuperClone, and when I saw who it was I inquired if they wanted any sort of collaboration. There were a few emails back and forth, and I gave some recommendations, they asked some questions, and they were supposed to give me a license...

Re: HDDSuperClone Imaging by File
There is more than one way to look at this. I think you also already have some other expensive tool(s) that are easy to work with, so you think this other option to be too complicated to be worth the effort. Others that don’t have those expensive tools (and can’t afford or justify them for what use ...

Re: MRT DE - image a couple specific folders only
FYI when I posted I did not realize it was directly in an MRT forum section. I did not mean to hijack a thread in another software/hardware section. But I am very surprised that MRT does not work like that. From everything I have ever read I was under the impression that it was a poor man’s PC3000. ...

Re: MRT DE - image a couple specific folders only
(In my Yoda voice) Open the door for me you have… Sometimes I like to hear things like this, that other tools don’t perform as desired. Especially when I have just recently started working using DMDE with the HDDSuperClone virtual disk, and added an option to import a sector (must be in bytes) file ...

Re: How do they stack up?
Might I also suggest not attempting the retries? You did 3 retries on the bad sectors with both ddrescue and hddsuperclone, which hammered on the bad spots on the drive. Also, I am not sure how easy it would be for you, but would you consider keeping track of ongoing progress as each tool performs t...

Re: How do they stack up?
It sounds like one of those 2 heads is going south. In any case the degrading ruins any chance of good comparison testing. If you get to a point where you decide to pull it from the testing, I would like to see another test with HDDSuperClone, only not a full test. It only needs to be for phases 1 a...

Re: How do they stack up?
According to the log, ddrescue actually recovered all but 12568. But the estimated first run of ddrescue without retries would have been about 13166, would would be real close to the 13128 from DDI4. HDDSuperClone recovered many less sectors (14360 total), and did not gain much at all during the ret...

Re: New Linux Tool - HDDSuperTool
You certainly don't want to read an entire 4TB drive in PIO mode. No, that would be very bad. You would likely kill the drive before it finished. This is mostly meant to be a utility at this time. I included a very basic imaging script, but it is very basic and not meant as a good cloning method. I...
