National data recovery service signs NB partner
Fredericton, N.B. A local IT consulting company is the newest authorized service partner for Recovery Force, an Ontario-based company specializing in data recovery, data protection and computer forensics.
“We wanted to add the best data protection and recovery capability to our company that we could find,” says Smartypants.com Inc. CEO George Butters. “Recovery Force has a reputation as one of the best in the world at what they do, so we were eager to put our team through their intensive training and evaluation program.”
Recovery Force president Doug Coughey, who traveled to Fredericton to personally conduct the sessions, says the two top reasons for losing important digital documents are hardware failure and human error.
“It’s not a question of IF your computer system will fail. The question is: When? And will it take any important data with it.” says Mr. Coughey.
The Recovery Force training program teaches computer technicians how to avoid data loss through regular preventative maintenance techniques and what steps to take and to avoid when the worst happens.
“It’s vital that you don’t make the situation worse. Unfortunately, that’s what usually happens when someone without the proper training starts poking things with a stick. That’s only going to make successful data recovery more expensive, or, in the worst case, impossible,” he says.
Mr. Butters says his company is delighted to get formal approval to join the Recovery Force network.
“It’s heartbreaking when someone loses financial records because a hard drive crashed, or accidentally wipes out their family vacation photos, and we couldn’t help,” he says. “Now, we can.”
