The problem with batteries expanding at the end of their life is not unusual. However, it is uncommon for laptop computer users to keep a close eye on their laptop computer batteries. This was all too true for us when we noticed a small bulge coming out of one of our Mac Book batteries. The battery was quickly replaced and the original was set aside for proper disposal. Less than a week later, the defective battery was looking like it was getting ready to explode.
If it isn't part of your regular system health check, it should be. The cost of replacing the battery is much less expensive than that of replacing the system and possibly the data on your hard drive. If in doubt, contact your computer technician for advice on how to diagnose and replace a damaged battery.
