A bit more than a year ago, if asked, "what percentage of projects are physical problems verses logical?", we would have responded with a 60/40 split. It seems that those numbers have changed pretty significantly over the past year, not for the better, and are now at the 80/20 split.
Why is this the case? There are many reasons, but the most common reasons are as follows:
- Laptop drive was has been moved while powered on
- External hard drive was bumped or dropped while powered on
- Physical damage due drive defect
- Physical damage due to a power surge
As an end user, what does this mean? It means that you should backup your data frequently. If you don't have a good backup in place or you are unsure that your backup is even working, talk to your technician. If you don't have a technician, call Recovery Force and we will recommend someone in your area who can help.
