A bit more than a year ago, if asked, "what percentage of projects are physical problems verses logical?", we would have responded with a 60/40 split.  It seems that those numbers have changed pretty significantly over the past year, not for the better, and are now at the 80/20 split.

Why is this the case?  There are many reasons, but the most common reasons are as follows:

  1. Laptop drive was has been moved while powered on
  2. External hard drive was bumped or dropped while powered on
  3. Physical damage due drive defect
  4. Physical damage due to a power surge
As an end user, what does this mean?  It means that you should backup your data frequently.  If you don't have a good backup in place or you are unsure that your backup is even working, talk to your technician.  If you don't have a technician, call Recovery Force and we will recommend someone in your area who can help.
